A GE Hotpoint Electric Range - You Can't Go Astray With One Of These

The Hotpoint electric range is a vintage kitchen appliance. Heck, my grandmother still has her 1960's stove-top in her small lakeside cottage and it's still working great. But, General Electric is known for producing some of the most solid kitchen appliances in the marketplace, and their Hot Point models are no exception.

I've run across quite a few bad brands when I was employed as a salesperson at a local appliance store, and I could always attest to the quality of GE appliances. There are a couple of other good brands out there, but GE just manufactures some classic workhorses. We actually had a lot of those fancy European (and particularly Italian) products in our store, and they definitely had certain aesthetic advantages - they're lovely little things, honestly - but they would be returned time and time again with a multitude of problems.

This was especially a nuisance because the parts were so much more pricey. While the initial commissions on products like that were higher, and they were good looking machines at first sight, I soon discovered that it wasn't worth selling them. It not only cost the store money (in which I became a partial investor after a few years) due to the greater number of repairs we had to do on the machines, but it also hurt my sales in the end.

People get furious when you sell them things that break. Even if you were unaware of the quality issues, and prepared to fix the problem ASAP, it still was quite a bit of time out of someone's day. From all of my experience, I can tell you that GE produces some great appliances, and their electric ranges particularly stand out. Not only to do they keep abreast of all of the new (and now seemingly necessary features), but they are a lot less likely to break down.

Fewer and fewer companies manufacture quality products, and the Hotpoint electric ranges are still the workhorses that they always were. Frankly, if you're actually using your appliances, there is no cause to simply go for something that looks nice. Select something that makes an effort to combine style and function. And make sure it is a good model. From my experiences, you can't go astray with a GE Hotpoint range.
